Pelvic Health with Dr. Rachel Parrotta, Physical Therapist

Coaches, this informative episode is a must listen. Today I have the pleasure of sharing an interview with Dr. Rachel Parrotta, a physical therapist out on Long Island. During this conversation, we dove deep into Rachel's specialty: Pelvic Health. As a mother of two, I was eager to unpack the topics of pregnancy, birth and postpartum care with Rachel.

Rachel leads us through a discussion on anatomy and less discussed topics such as prolapse, what its symptoms are, and who the right professionals are to seek help with for it. Pelvic health is a topic that applies to all genders, but it is not frequently discussed openly, and I'm pumped to have Rachel joining us for this episode.

You'll hear us talk about:
- How you can help and support moms through their pregnancy.
- What a mother can do to prepare for pregnancy and birth.
- The differences and symptoms of both hypertonic and hypotonic pelvic floors.
...and so much more!

Don't forget to leave us a review...

Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Pilates with Alison B. Marsh

Alison B. Marsh of Pregnancy Pilates Impact joins me today to talk all about pilates. She educates us on the definition of "perinatal" and why she uses that term when talking about her work, and she walks us through some pilates history and why it is a great form of exercise for pregnant and postpartum clients.

You'll hear us talk about topics such as:
- Why Alison believes pilates is the best fitness system.
- The importance of recognizing that some medical professionals are focused on healing specific organs rather than providing therapy for an entire system.

A Closer Look at Womenโ€™s Wellness with Meghan Barrington

In this episode, Meghan Barrington joins me to discuss a variety of topics regarding women's wellness, looking at them through her unique lens. Meghan grew up doing all sorts of outdoorsy activities, played volleyball, and has a background in bodybuilding, and I jumped at the chance to talk about how a woman's body works and how it should be taken care of. We touch on how she intends to blend her various areas of expertise to educate her female clients on how to live better in their daily life.

Meghan & I dive into:
- The problem with kids specializing too early in sports.
- Sleep hygiene and what it means to run as an optimal human.
- How pelvic floor work can apply to women, men, athletes, and artists.

This is a great episode that everyone should check out, particularly though if you are dealing with female clients!

How To Train the Pregnant and Postpartum Client with Brianna Battles

Today I sit down with a very special guest – Brianna Battles – to discuss training the pregnant and postpartum client. She has been instrumental in educating me and changing the trajectory of my career as a trainer, and I am so happy to share this interview with you all.

Pregnancy and postpartum athleticism is an area that can be lacking in trustworthy information online and on social media. Often times on social media, one trainer might suggest you take this or that easy. Another might push the idea that you can keep going at the rate you always have. The truth is that just like with everything else, training during pregnancy and postpartum is highly specific to the individual.

In this episode, Brianna Battles talks all about...
- How postpartum is forever – a fact many people do not take into consideration – and your athleticism does not need to end when your motherhood begins.
- Pregnancy introduces a number of physiological factors that...

When to Use a Sports Chiropractor with Dr. Karlie Causey

Dr. Karlie Causey joined us today to talk about the fundamentals of sports chiropractic medicine and how it can be used to compliment coaching by trainers and clinicians for a variety of issues that come up with their clients.  We also discussed her focus on perinatal and postpartum coaching and rehabilitation, and how coaches can become more familiar with the process.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • The difference between sports and traditional chiropractic medicine
  • Why chiropractic medicine is sometimes not taken seriously
  • How a personal trainer determines when to refer their client out to a chiropractor and not a physical therapist
  • Ways in which PTs and Chiropractors work together - and in which ways they are different
